Hey I’m Ace and I’m glad you’re here.
Life isn't always easy and sometimes we find ourselves feeling lonely, confused, and unsure about the future. Dealing with feelings and balancing the pressures of life can be overwhelming at times, but if you are reading this, you are taking a step toward relief. Breath. You’ve arrived at a safe space where you are free to come as you are. As your therapist, my purpose is to support your journey toward mental wellness. Together we will explore, process, and dive into the challenges of your life to overcome obstacles that stand in your way.
As for me, I’m a first-generation Nigerian-American, queer, woman, born and raised in Northern California. I studied Women’s and Gender Studies at Sacramento State and earned my Masters of Social Work at California State University, San Bernardino. I’m currently pursuing my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Fielding Graduate University. I love traveling, reading, listening to music, and relaxing in front of the water as often as I can.
My purpose in life has been to heal myself so that I can assist others who seek to do the same. My personal experiences, cultural identities, and professional background have guided my own journey, and have equipped me with the ability to support yours, especially if you have concerns regarding:
· Sexuality · Gender Expression · Relationships (platonic, romantic, and non-monogamous)
· Family Dynamics · Trauma (personal and intergenerational) · Cultural Influences (ethnic/racial issues, immigration, first-generation American status, transracial adoption, privilege/oppression) · Academics/Career · Substance-use · Eating/Weight · Grief Loss · Dying
· Overall self-discovery
You are a unique person with personal experiences that make you who you are, so my therapeutic approach prioritizes acceptance, non-judgment, and growth by drawing from psychodynamic therapy and other evidenced-based practices with holistic/alternative frameworks.
I can’t wait to get to know you and see where you’ll go on your journey!
Hi, I am Robert. Welcome to The Center of Resiliency. I bring to you excellent educational credentials, significant experience in counseling, and personal maturity.
My work history entails working with adults, teens, and couples. I specialize in working with anxiety disorders, self-esteem issues, depressive disorders, codependency, mid-life crises, dual-diagnosed clients, clients with narcissism, bipolar disorders, dissociative disorders, and trauma and stressor related disorders. I create a warm and accepting environment for you to explore your strengths and troubles. My client-centered therapeutic approach is informed by
Psychosynthesis and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies. Psychosynthesis aims to integrate subpersonalities from the higher (strengths), middle, and lower unconscious. We may conduct inner child work, reclaim shamed gifts, and challenge abusive internal others.
I am currently an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I enjoy contemplating, AAA games, snowboarding, and taking care of my cat in my spare time.
My graduate work at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology included studies in Buddhist Psychology, Carl Gustav Jung, Psychosynthesis, and spiritual guidance. I will happily teach you
how to meditate if a need for meditation is indicated. We will work with whatever you bring.
Hi, I’m Justin Shupe. I’m an Associate Clinical Social Worker offering therapy services. I work primarily with children, teens, and young adults. I believe therapy should feel like a space where you can show up as yourself without pressure, judgment, or having to have it all figured out.
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you are not sure where to begin. My goal is to create a calm, supportive, and down to earth environment where you feel heard, respected, and understood. I approach therapy with curiosity and compassion, meeting you where you are and moving at a pace that feels right for you.
I primarily have worked with children, teens, and young adults, supporting them through the emotional, relational, and identity related challenges that often come with these stages of life. I also work with parents and caregivers as part of supporting younger clients, helping strengthen understanding, communication, and connection.
I have experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as clients with trauma histories and co-occurring mental health needs.
I provide therapy for concerns including:
* Anxiety and chronic stress
* Depression and mood challenges
* Self esteem, confidence, and identity exploration
* Emotional regulation and coping skills
* Trauma and PTSD
* Relationship, family, and communication challenges
* Behavioral concerns and skill building
* Support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
My background includes school based services, community mental health, outpatient therapy, and leadership within behavioral health programs, which allows me to approach care with flexibility, collaboration, and an understanding of the systems that impact young people.
My approach to therapy is client centered, trauma informed, and strengths based. I believe you are the expert on your own experience, and my role is to support you in making sense of what you are going through while building tools that fit your life and goals.
I draw from a variety of evidence based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT informed skills, narrative therapy, mindfulness based interventions, and solution focused
therapy.
With teens and young adults, I focus on increasing self awareness, emotional understanding, and practical coping skills while creating space for curiosity, honesty, and growth. I aim to build a therapeutic relationship that feels collaborative, supportive, and real rather than clinical or one sided.
I earned my Master of Social Work and Bachelor of Social Work from California State University, Chico, and I also have an academic background in Child and Adolescent Development. I am currently gaining my clinical hours toward licensure and am committed to
learning, growing, and being fully present with the clients I serve.
Outside of my clinical work, I am an avid music fan and play the violin and guitar, and I am currently learning piano. I also enjoy writing poetry and drawing. I believe music and art can be powerful ways for people to process emotions, trauma, and life experiences, especially when words feel limited. I also enjoy being outdoors and staying active and healthy.
I strive to meet each client where they are, respect their journey, and honor the trust it takes to begin therapy. I consider it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they navigate growth, healing, and self understanding.
Thank you for letting me tell you a bit about myself, my therapeutic style, and the opportunity to serve you in this journey we call life.
