Welcome!
My name is James Smith. I am a registered Associate Clinical Social Worker with experience working with children and adults. I possess a Master of Social Work and a Bachelor of Psychology, both from San Diego State University.
I commend your courage and strength in seeking therapy services. It is not always easy to talk about our feelings and triggers. This is a safe place for you to be honest and curious with yourself, a place free of judgment. My goal is to help you feel encouraged and validated.
Drawing from attachment theory, cognitive-behavioral theory (CBT), and internal family systems theory (IFS), I will guide you in an exploration of yourself. Bring in your traumas, anger, fear, and shame. Let us examine them to understand them better. Together we will validate your experiences with compassion and clarity. As you gain a new perspective of yourself, new patterns of thinking and feeling will emerge.
I enjoy various types of exercise like walking, running, and weightlifting. Exercise helps me feel good and prevents me from feeling overly anxious. When I am not exercising, I enjoy reading books that help me understand myself better.
