Here’s a little about me: I am a third-generation Oakland native with roots from Mexico and Apache lineage from New Mexico and Arizona. I earned my AA from Laney College, and later my BA and MSW from UC Berkeley. I am an artist, poet, and healer within my circle through practising traditional plant medicine and other ways of knowing which were taught to me by my Elders. I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker in the state of California and work under the supervision of DeAndrea Knight, LCSW.
During my downtime, I find ways to reconnect to my higher self through practising art, cooking, listening to music, going out in nature and spending time with my plant, fur babies and loved ones. I am a lifelong learner and am always finding ways to self-educate and walk my road of self-discovery because I believe that as we each heal and empower ourselves, in turn, we heal, grow and evolve collectively.
It takes much courage and strength to walk the road of healing and self-discovery. It would be an honor to walk this journey alongside you, as you walk into your power and strength, and actualize the goals you have set forth ahead on your path.
Life's ups and downs can seem overwhelming at times. We all need a chance to re-center and focus our abilities; to cope and process our world. Whether you are starting a fresh relationship or job or are trying to climb a mountain of stress and anxiety, you can learn to view your situation through a new lens that empowers you. I believe every obstacle is an opportunity to grow. If you have held on to years of trauma, depression, or addiction, together we can turn battle scars into victory trophies, and I am honored to help you on that journey.
About me: My name is Tecia Irwin, I hold a bachelor's degree in psychology from Southern New Hampshire University and a Master of Clinical Social Work from Liberty University. I embraced motherhood at a young age and after 10 years began to juggle school, work, children, and homeschooling to pursue my goals as a therapist. I also have a background in massage therapy and am a registered yoga instructor. Working with the body has taught me how people hold onto stress and trauma, providing insight into scientifically proven therapeutic releases. Through my practicum, I have worked in private practice with diverse populations and realize that everyone has a unique story with their own challenges and strengths, and as a spouse to a veteran, and a mother of four I have a passion for helping adolescents and our military.
I am thrilled to meet my clients where they are, offering a fresh look into their challenges while empowering them to take charge of their circumstances. I engage with clients through an eclectic style by tailoring my approach to individual needs. I allow clients to lead through their lived experiences as I offer tools such as mindfulness, trauma informed yoga, and embrace choices through reality therapy. I look forward to helping you set realistic life goals, providing validation while learning to cope, and promoting a grounded sense of personal ownership over your own life. We will partner together to create a balance in your life so that you can have less stress and reveal your full potential. Through a multitude of treatment approaches and activities, we can discover the right way to frame your situation. This will cultivate your innate healing ability, revealing a stronger and more confident you. Let's walk this journey together so that you can say "yes" to a happier, healthier future for yourself.
Five Values that Guide My Work: open-mindedness, empathy, growth, authenticity, and empowerment.
